Red Sky

Red sky, high tide
Seek the ash and oak
Wayside, must decide
Before the sky turns to smoke
Slow glow haze, where the wild things stay
Weathered and weary, pale and bleak
The night bloom is what you seek
As time draws near, let us be clear
An offering must be made
The bitterness sets in
Too numb, I succumb
Where did these thoughts all stem?
And when did all the lies begin?
Am I condemned?
As the silence rings in my ears, I am reminded of the sign
Am I even fine?
When will Summer pass?
What debt have I amassed?
Looking through the glass
Dead eyes looking towards the past
Soon in time the frost will sing
And my bitter breath will still sting
My life is a part of the design
In a state of refine
As dull days become more dreary
(Inside myself)
My empty eyes grow weary
(Everything is a winter)
Just a man who’s waiting to die
(A bitter end)
Winter is coming, am I next in line?
(What if there is nothing there at all?)
Red sky, high tide
Seek the ash and oak
Wayside, must decide
Before the sky turns to smoke
Slow glow haze
A hint of iron and pine
Burning and leaving no trace behind
From my distant mind
I am misaligned
And can’t seem to find
I can’t seem to find
The Red Sky that is burned in my mind
In time
Am I just a man that’s waiting to die?

Despite what I was told
This is something that I must undergo
Before I grow old
They say that I am bold
No, it’s buried deep in the fold
And my eyes have grown cold
Am I hollow
And is this choice that I’ve made growing harder to swallow
Walking in contingency (All alone)
With what may happen eventually (All unknown)
Nothing about this is certain
Is this all just an aversion
Can’t explain, how cold is the pain
Like a shiver that comes from the rain
I can’t explain, is it all in vain
Although a river runs
Water won't be found
Under a dying sun
No light now
It happened in the dead of night
The chill came and left me not quite right
Whistling in spite, it whispered in my ear
I am what you fear
I am not done here
I am all you hear
I am nothing
Where’s this solace
I am fear
Fear is nothing
With rain falling and a thorn in my side
This is the night that I almost died
As the long night winds,
Although a river runs
Water won't be found
Under a dying sun
No light now
I am overcome with fear
Am I done here

The silence, of all paths that remain
In between the sky and shade
The Guide walks, gray mist on the ground
Will solace or shame be found?
I feel the mist, it whispers softly to me
Come on down now, let us drift from gloom and greed
Follow me, I know what makes you angry (I know what you need)
For so long now, living lost in a cloud
The silence was loud, it left me smothered in doubt
Counting my days
Have I lived within a memory?
Visions of long ago
Passing me by
I call for hope
Fadeout to Autumn glow
In darkness and light
I leave this world alone
The way it ebbs and flows
The playful haze shifting slow and low
With the warmth a friend bestows
It pulls me in with its purple glow
Leaving me lost in the undertow
I was surprised by beauty
A glowing red sky floating above the deep blue sea
With a shadow of hope beneath the tall tree
A perfect picture painting, gloomy
Lost from the long night
My head feels hazy
The chill came in the dead of the night
And it left me
It left me not quite right
I was surprised by beauty
A perfect picture painting gloomy
This is where you’re meant to be
Come dance with me, I pull the strings
Don’t be afraid, I will take away all your bad dreams
The nightbloom is what we seek
The offering mustn’t be bleak
After all this time
This is the Red Sky that was burned in my mind
I was surprised by beauty
A perfect picture painting gloomy
Visions of long ago
Passing me by
I call for hope
